Automobile Engineering - National (NVQ)
NVQ – National Vocational QualificationIs a certificate that certifies your skills. It is an nationally recognized certificate confirming that you possess skills up to the respective NVQ level to work productively in the relevant profession. NVQ system is a skills evaluation system which has a higher tendency to obtain foreign employment.
For the recent past the TVET sector has displayed a significant growth. It has established a NVQ Framework levels 1 – 7 and conduct courses in many subject areas. Considerable numbers of student as acquired qualification and was able to secure employment in both public sector and private sector and foreign employment. This growth contributed to the development of the Industry in turn reflected in the economic growth of Sri Lanka.On Successful completion of this course the students obtains a NVQ Certificate which is approved by government.

Hybrid Technology
Who are the qualifications for?These qualifications are for candidates who need to know more the safety precautions to be taken when working on or near a high voltage hybrid. Therefore,
this applies not just to automotive technicians but also, for example, emergency services staff.
What do the qualifications cover?
As a result of learning, level 2 candidates will have learnt the essential knowledge about:
• hybrid system components and operation
• how to work safely on hybrid and related
vehicle systems
• how to work safely around electric vehicles.
Level 3 candidates will have the essential knowledge for:
• taking safety precautions when working on
hybrid vehicle systems
• using appropriate tools and equipment to
carry out hybrid vehicles repairs safely
• recording information and making suitable
recommendations.
Diploma in Accident Repair Body Principles
Who is the qualification for?Candidates wanting to broaden their understanding of carrying out body repairs to motor vehicles as a result of an accident. It also gives them the opportunity to learn how to develop others. Successful candidates could use their knowledge and
skills in a variety of roles including specialist repair or specialist finishing in a car bodywork workshop.
What does the qualification cover?
It combines theoretical knowledge and the development of practical skills in automotive accident repair. It covers areas such as body, mechanical and
electrical repairs, and paint and trim.
Diploma in Accident Repair Paint Principles
Who is the qualification for?This Level 3 Diploma in Accident Repair Paint is for anyone developing a career in a motor industry. This practical qualification demonstrates candidate’s skills on the job and in their own workplace showing that they meet national standards for automotive workers. The structure assessment strategy has been produced by the institute of the Motor Industry, who are the Sector Skills Council for the Automotive Industry.
What does the qualification cover?
Candidates cover areas such as preparing, painting and finishing different surfaces, applying fillers and carrying out repairs t motor vehicles paintwork. They are assessed in the workplace by using the following methods;
